Abraxas? I first heard of the Abraxas from First Kyu, a novella I'm adapting into a screenplay, which is a coming-of-age story about a Korean boy who finds his calling and, against his family and culture, sets his life goal to become a professional Go player. (Go is a popular Asian board game -- for more information about this remarkable game see the American Go Association website).
What does this have to do with Blaze? Nothing. But in First Kyu the Abraxas is from the Herman Hess novel Demian (I've yet to read his story, so this is all second-hand information) and described as a bird that represents the abstract metaphor for an idealized goal that is unobtainable. This is how I feel about filmmaking.
In addition, Abraxas goes back to ancient culture and is a symbol of human spirituality. This has something to do with Blaze's life.
