Marching on

Editing of the documentary marches on -- it's coming along nicely and we're very excited about the story that's developing. We've decided to use an unconventional storytelling style to suit Blaze's unconventional life story. Most biographical documentaries tend to drag on and after about an hour it's no longer interesting. The documentaries and pseudo-docs that are influencing our story about Blaze include FAKE and CITIZEN KANE by Orson Welles, 32 SHORT FILMS ABOUT GLENN GOULD, and THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE. We plan to parody various styles of biographical documentaries because Blaze liked to question established conventions. Another reason for this approach is the difficulty inherent in telling his story: since Blaze is unknown by most people, and we want to reach the broadest possible audience, there's a lot of material to cover. The people who watch this movie will not be familiar with his lifestory or image -- heck, they won't even know ANY of his songs hardly!
